Do you now own this coin or do you just have it in your possession?

Just have it in possession, but the owner and I are planning on getting it graded, spliting the costs, and then we would go from there.

    Imo

Weigh it & measure it accurately prior to making any decision about sending it to any TPG.

If you do not own a good scale, then take the coin to a jeweler or to any "buy your gold" place & they can weigh it on their scale. The measurement should be in grams to the nearest 100th of a gram. To measure the diameter, use an accurate micrometer or caliper. If you do not own a good micrometer or caliper, then find someone that has one.

Carefully inspect the edge of the coin & post (close-up & properly cropped) photos here prior to sending it to a TPG.

PSST... you can buy a cheap digital scale and some test weights on ebay for under $25. I bought one and it's pretty darn accurate.

He was a customer at the place I work at, not a coin shop.

I would be hesitant to make a verbal agreement with someone and expect them to honor it if enough money is involved.in my opinion he has all rights to the coin.
