Congratulations to the Brits for starting their own grading service.
Check out Coin World for details.
Interestingly, they are using the 100 point grading system.

I don't know if I agree with the 100 point grading scale 70 is working very well for me.

According to Coin World, there is a lot of opposition to the slabbing over there.
Good luck, at least you'll know that they are genuine.
With all of the debate over here (on this side of the pond) over the 70 v 100 point system, it seems like a good idea to start with the 100 point system.

I remember seeing some promo for them a few weeks ago. I think they will go the same way as previous attempts. Hopefully their demise will be a speedy one.

Ian,the latest edition of Token Publishing's 'Coin News' actually has an ad advertising an American-style British grading service. As for the 70 or 100 point grading system,I don't like that.Who wants to price their Unc. coins using several grades of Unc.To me,a coin is either Unc.,or it isn't.

I dont like slabed coins they seem to impersonal, but having said that I can understand why some people would want them.

I fancied buying a NGC slabbed coin just for the sake of having one.

I prefer the NGC slabs over any others.

Let's forget about the plastic coffins - what is more important is for the TPGs to determine if you got a counterfeited coin or not. That is the most important of all as recent years have shown some shocking counterfeited coins.

Isn't grading service a way to make coins more expensive and to kill, so to speak, the "hobby" soul of coin collecting?. It makes coin collecting pure businesss.
I've seen on ebay that graded coins are more expensive than the "nongraded" ones, even for fairly common coins.

He seems to be a very slick profiteer. He's obviously done his homework, seen the money to be made by running these type scams, and now he's ready to get in on the action.

    Here's his website...

He's a coin dealer named Stephen Lockett.

I'm pretty sure that he and a guy called Peter Licence were the dynamic duo that conducted `London Coin Auctions'. I used to buy from them quite a bit back in the mid 90's. Not sure what happened to Peter (or `London Coin Auctions' come to think of it). He probably just got tired of the business.

I never saw Steve as being the type to run a charity, so there must be some marketing basis for his business venture. I still wish him every failure with the enterprise.

Who's that Stephen Lockett?. By reading other forums, I see he has earned himself quite a lot of "supporters", if you know what I mean.
