If I have a coin in a 1970 proof set and would like to have just one coin from that set graded by a T.P.G. Is it best to break it out of it's holder or send the set in and let them break it out ?
And we all know what happens then. The seccond you remove it from the PROOF CASE>> INSTANT pr 69 or less.
More than likely they are already lower than PF69-----some time ago I heard someone say that most proof coins from the mint would grade PF65-PF67. Speedy
Speedy, I think you are right pf 66 at best but you get to looking at a coin for so long I think you start to see things that are just not there.I will wait a few weeks and look at it again maybe what I see now will look different then. Thanks Bruce.
Frank, not sure about deep cam it is just a proof set not siver but looks like it has a mirror finish.
Bruce: for a proof set, it should have a mirror finish on all coins. Unless you really have an uncirculated set.
Not all the coins in 1970 proof sets were deep cameo like they are now. If they are high grade and deep cameo they may be worth having slabed. But most of the time you can find one for less money than it cost to have it graded.
