I have seen this before and always tossed them, thinking they were blister related. But now, I see that they are identical. What is this raised area?

I am pretty sure it is a clash mark. It should be from where Lincoln's head & neck meet.

Coins are only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. I would pay you 10 cents for both. There's no "problem" with him wanting to buy it, as it is his money.
