    Hey all,

I'm all kinds of ignorant when it comes to "lamination" errors". With that said, I think this coin has it:
    MM_with_LAM0.jpg MM_with_LAM1.jpg MM_with_LAM2.jpg

Is this a lamination error? I initially noticed the MM, didn't think much of it, but I checked coppercoins anyways. Looks to match MM-006. It's pretty worn, but the position looks good and there is some of the remnant to the south (barely perceivable).

Whatcha think? I have no idea what types of lamination errors carry a premium, or if this really is one.

Unfortunately this is not RPM #6 on coppercoins. The secondary mintmart on #6 connects the bottom serif and the upper curve of the primary mintmark. Your coin looks like a normal Ball Serif mintmark. Sorry. The lamination is cool but I don't know the current value of lamination in this grade.

Were you saying you thought this is RPM #6 or mintmark style #6?

It doesn't look like an OMM to me. It's definitely not 006. The underlying MM on 006 almost closes the bottom loop of the S to make it appear like the bottom loop of an 8.

It is a lamination. Small ones like yours don't carry much if any premium.

Thanks, I noticed the lack of the bottom serif mark after I posted... guess I saw the ball serif and figured it was close enough  Meh, it was late. "Ball Serif" is a new phrase to me, so I learned something.

Thanks for the responses. I'm keeping it as a Ball Serif example and a vaguely interesting lamination error.

You are so welcome. The Ball Serif is my favorite mintmark. Check this link out for more info: http://varietyvista.com/San Francisco Mintmark Styles.htm
