gbroke asked for opinions on this morgan. I don't see much detail above the ear, and to me, the toning looks artificial. These are my opinions. "Applied with a spoon" was an attempt at humor. My opinion differs from gbroke's and many of the other's responding. My response was not a personal attack. Because gbroke is a senior member and a toning expert, I can't offer opinions contrary to his? What's point? What's the use? Should I simply take his word for it? What good is that? Why should he or anyone else here ask for opinions if the matter is already decided based on seniority and self appointed titles? Some of you are piling on with pointless negative responses. Great! This seems to take up a lot of space around here. Have fun with it. Amuse yourselves. :smile Go stroke each other.
Geez stinkycat.. Way to bust out some vulgar obscenities. If anyone is taking it to the next level it certainly is you. Let's get the story straight shall we? Not a single member "bashed" your opinions of even you for giving them. There is absolutely no "pointless negative responses" to be found in this thread other than the last two you posted. gbroke him self even said he appreciates your comment. Yes, gbroke is very wise when it comes to toning and is a senior member but not once did anyone say your opinion was not worth mentioning. What's the point of a forum if people aren't allowed to disagree without someone going into a fit of viral rage? Calm down dude. If you don't like how the thread turned out..Stop reading it.. move on..
Stinky shows up and offers an opinion that goes against the grain, which is fine. It's largely unfounded and shows his lack of experience (I saw a Vess post!), which is for the most part fine. The funny thing is that when he gets a sarcastic response from Gbroke he doesn't realize it is sarcastic and then goes into the mode of "Yes see that is exactly what you need to do to learn. You'll start to get it soon!" Unfortunately he doesn't know the person he's talking to probably has more experience in his little finger than he does. Regardless, then when he gets called out on all of it he then immediately goes into "You guys all stroke each other's egos. This isn't a coin forum. Waah!" Go read some other posts Stinky. This forum, which it is, is pretty harsh when it comes to "I think your coin is fake" or "You way overpaid", or whatnot when someone posts a sketchy coin. However, does the fact you showed up, offered an uninformed opinion, got rebuffed, and then got all mad mean there is a problem with the forum? Or with you? Yes you are allowed to offer your opinion. In fact, if you reread the thread you'll notice Gbroke was completely civil to you after your first criticism. He merely asks why you formed that opinion. Your backup was a snarky response about a spoon and a quote from an old post. Why would he or anyone respect your opinion at that point when it is fairly obvious you don't know anything? Then you get all "See you'll learn Einstein"y and then you get all butthurt.
I know I'm a little late to the party...but I'll throw my 2 cents in. I think the coin is a 63. It does have some die polish marks but it also has some dings. However, I also know that TPGs to tend to give a bump for nice eye appeal...and I also know that gbroke has a knack for finding very nicely toned coins with wonderful eye appeal. So I imagine this coin is very lovely in hand. That being said, it wouldn't surprise me to see this coin come back graded a 64. Again, I think that in a technical sense it is a 63 but if it came back a 64 I wouldn't be surprised.
Assuming this coin is naturally toned, what kind of premium above its grade would it probably bring (approximately)?
