I realize I haven't been on in a while, but I have gotten a number of new coins during that time. Here's one of them and one of my favorite of my recent pickups. Hasn't arrived yet (it's coming from central Europe), so these photos are the seller's. This is a very scarce type and IMO a must have for anyone collecting Leo I coins. Leo I, Eastern Roman Emperor, (reigned 457-474 AD), AE2 Obv: DN LEO PE-RPET AVG, diademed, draped, bust right Rev: SALVS R-PVBLCA, Emperor standing right with foot on bound captive falling forward, holding globe in right hand and labarum in left hand, CON in ex, Constantinople mint (for use in Cherson) RIC X 657
Score VK! Nice job. Nothing strikes fear in your enemies then making coins with your feet in their backs. It's really rare to see nice bronze coins of these emperors, period. Kudos!
Thanks all for commenting! I also recently got a monogram coin of Leo I, so I believe I have all of the bronze reverse types for him, at least all the ones represented on Wildwinds: Lion, Verina, monogram, emperor dragging captive, and (soon to be in hand) emperor with foot on captive. BTW liking the avatar steve! Don't know who that is (I feel like I should know lol), but he reminds me of this intimidating fellow:
