Hi, under the same nickname I write a lot of the coin articles for Wikipedia (current project 20 cent piece http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twenty-cent_piece_(United_States_coin)). We are always short on quality images since I generally don't own the coins I am writing about. If someone would be willing to donate a quality image or three, I'd be very grateful and credit can be arranged if desired on the image page. We're pretty good on the 20th century regular issues, though unusual items would be happily accepted. Most 18th and 19th we'd be happy for. Note that you need to have taken the photograph yourself to have the copyright and be able to donate. Among the things I'm looking for are (both sides except where noted):

    Seated Liberty dollar
    silver three-cent piece
    twenty-cent piece
    MINTMARKED Oregon Trail half dollar
    Stone Mountain half dollar
    Monroe Doctrine Centennial half dollar
Cincinnati Musical Center half dollar (preferably mint marked)
    MINTMARKED Liberty Head nickel

Or take a look at our article on your coin of choice. If you can do better than the images there, talk to me.

If you are willing, I will contact you privately, asking for an email and then send you the permission, to which you can respond "I agree" or similar, and it will be registered with our confidential permissions people and I'd take it from there. We've gotten some nice donations from experts, such as Howard Spindel on Shield nickels but the US has put out a LOT of coins

    Many thanks to all

Do you strongly prefer images of mint-state coins? I just happened across a Monroe Doctrine half, but it's probably XF at best.

Hi I can provide images of both a 3 cent and a 20 cent coin, in AU55 and XF grade, respectively. Not at home right now though... or does it need to be MS? Mike

Obviously we are looking for the best we can get, but we're not so picky as to say that a nice XF would do. So feel free to.

Nice! I'll go through and pick the best I can find and use it. The one we have now is off the Mint's website.

Those look good. I have a special attachment to the Oregon Trail ones as I've done a lot of research on them and have an article hopefully The Numismatist will take. I'll PM you regarding permission.
