For sure. I bought a Conder token once in a no-name slab that had a worn and pitted reverse but the coin graded XF or something. Luckily the seller took it back.
It's a real shame, because I think the trade dollars (from several countries) and the asian silver cash coins are great... Now, even if it came with certifications, I would always wonder if it was just a more cleverly manufactured fake.
ive done a lot of tracking of these people and the headings are always the same. Its a gang that operates this scam.first thing is to realise NEVER BUY FROM CHINA.its a shame to say but its the same as never sell to nigeria. These people sell each other a few coins to get a bit of a rating before doing there scam the poften sell about 20 coins befoere the account is ruined by which time they have others opened. They also dont accept traceable and refundable money ways such as paypal. ive been in conversation with a few of the guys burnt from these people and now there actively opening accounts and bidding all there auctions out so no-one else gets burnt by them. Then leaving the bad feedback. Then the follow them to there next accounts and so on.This is the best way to get rid of these people stop there money flow in its tracks. this i consider legitimate account terrorism
Make that almost never buy from China, and add Singapore to that maxim. The exceptions are a very small number of honest sellers in both places, but the only way to know who they are is a two step process. First, check their feedback and if it is less than 100, with at least a 99% rating, run, don't walk, to the nearest exit. If they pass that test, check their seller's feedback for the identities of their buyers. If you don't see multiple buyers that you know are knowledgeable, check around with specialists in the field of what you're looking at. (Don't count knowledgeable buyers' purchases for under $10 or so - they may be intentionally buying for their counterfeit/replica/fake educational collections.) Never violate Jimmy's rule unless you can develop a very high comfort level because of who their buyers are, or recommendations you receive from trusted advisers.
