This one just came in the mail. What do you think it grades? Are the surfaces original? Thanks in advance. :thumb: Simon
The bust half looks original to me, looks to have an old paper tone from a 2x2 envelope. I think it grades right around VF-30, I'll get the variety for you when I get home, I'm at work now.
One thing I like about this one is the detail of the neck feathers. My other two Bust Halves (1817 and 1829) don't have that detail because of a lower grade and a weak strike, respectively.
It is O.110, R2 And I'd call it 25 - no more, no less. This date did not produce poorly-struck coins like previous years, so the lack of detail you see at the wing is all wear. But the coin looks very original.
I paid around there, so I am happy with the purchase. :smile I mainly buy just to add to my collection as opposed to reselling the coin, but I'm still glad I didn't really overpay.
