I retired earlier this year. Although I've looked forward to it for years, I found myself getting bored. I was turning into the old guy at the grocery store trying to strike up conversations with strangers. Anyway, I decided to try my hand selling at a local flea market. It's a lot of fun. Anyway...
A woman last week asked if I had a 1933 buffalo nickel. I told her I didn't have any with me but I'd dig one up and have it for her the next week. So, when I got home I dug through my buffalos, looking and digging for more than an hour. It finally dawned on me to take a look at numismedia. No buffs were made in 1933. I'm sure many of you knew as soon as you read the message title. I bet I knew it at one time.
Getting old is an exiting adventure.

lol I'm sure many of us would have made the same mistake. Though most probably would never admit to it.

You could tell her you are temporarily out of stock, but you do have one of these if she's interested.

Daniel Carr did an overstrike of an original mid 1930s Buffalo nickel with the 1933 date - they sold out very very quickly and I am glad I got one when I did.

Please bonbon! If I continue to slip at the current rate I might end up with a dansco full of '29s!

This is actually a contemporary fake. The reeded edge is a bezel that was silver soldered on to a cast counterfeit. I guess it worked because of the wear apparent on the coin, as long as you only put it Tails side up. But then again, who looks at the date of current coin issues anyway when taking them in trade?

I love that peace dollar. It's my current favorite coin.
