Absolutely! I can't ever bring myself to get rid of coins. In fact, I too have a bunch of 1964 Kennedys laying around. Probably about 50 of them. Its a sickness.

I have a hard time with the really good ones. Not so much with 64 kennedys though. But to each his own!!

I don't plan to sell any silver coins until it is $100 per ounce. I happen to really like the 64 Kennedy and I wish it was more scarce. The reverse of the coin is one of the better designs out there for any series, in my opinion.

I had around 70 90% silver halves---I found a coin I liked at my dealers and asked if he would take the halves in trade---he said sure and it was as easy as that---find a coin you like first or it will be harder to let them go!

  7. It's a simple question Bruce, which would you rather have? Do you want 78 1964 halves or eventually a complete 7070 type set? Once you figure this out you will have your answer my son. :thumb:

It's not quite as funny without the guy from Kung Fu saying it. :p

Remember Bruce you can't have it all, where would you keep it?

I suggest you get rid of them as fast as you can or you'll end up like me. I never get rid of a coin that I have collected for any reason. Example is today I just counted my Mercury Dimes. There is 2,278 of the things and each one is in an Album or a 2x2. Even worse with Lincoln Cents. Again, I suggest you get rid of those before you really become addicted like me.

If you got the space, then keep them. One might turn out to be a $1,000,000 variety you didn't even knew you had. (Then again, maybe not) I say save them.

i think each and every grab bag i have sold in the past year has a 64 half in it. lol There so common. Your doing collectors a faver if you sell them to and for melt.

Collecting coins can be an illness. There is no cure currently known.
Earlier this year when I could have gotten over 9 X face for junk silver I told my wife that I was going to dump a bunch.
She actually talked me out of it, since she knew that i would take me two weeks to decide which pieces to get rid of.

You are asking the wrong crowd! :desk: It's like that, banging your head against the wall.

For me it comes down to cash. If you can have both then go for it, as silver is slowly going up, and will keep doing so for years to come, unless demand suddenly drops, not likely, or some HUGE undiscovered vein of silver is found, also not likely, atleast according to the US Geological service.

Keep 'em both, if you can. If not, sell the silver and get your collection up to date.

Unless, of course, they include a P-0, G-3, G-4 . . .MS-70 Cam, MS-70 DCam, plus a cast counterfeit, an electrotype, etc. [IMG]

Bruce, the main thing is, you need to make a firm decision on way or the other, melt or don't melt, then put it out of your mind. It's the only way to live.

Sure, but would you trade/sell a group of #78 1901 S Barber Quarters?

    Nope, neither would I.

Keep your hoard and return some unwanted Christmas presents for cash. Then make sure you vote category 1 in the 'what kind of collector are you?' poll.
