I think the Morgan is fake...

But for your sake I hope I'm wrong.

I'd like to hear what the B&M has to say.

Also, notice that the seller has realized listings of fake Morgans on keychains. I'm not saying this means your coin is fake, but it just reaffirms my suspicion.

Great Eye Brian and Thanks for your help! I just received the 2 Lots and you are absolutely 100% correct... BOTH Morgans are fake/counterfeit! I didn't even need to take them to my guy, as they are that bad in hand. Here are some photo's and I will update this thread with how long it takes eBay to refund me :)

lol at how all the coins were taped up on a piece of cardboard! I was indeed ripped-off, but I will show you guys how easy it is to get a refund paid-in-full from eBay when using PayPal as a method of payment

Oh, the "potentially valuable coins taped to cardboard" is one of my FAVORITE things on eBay.

It sounds like you're going directly to Buyer Protection; good. 100% feedback or not, 10-year history or not, this guy is selling counterfeit coins, and needs to be shut down.

If my experience is any guide, eBay will NOT require you to return the fakes -- there's no point in giving the fake-passer a second chance to rip someone off. I'll be curious to hear what they say about returning the other coins.

If the seller asks you to return the fakes, contact eBay customer service and ask what you should do. Again, we don't want the seller getting a second chance to pass them off.

Lol, I knew as soon as I saw the tape-job that this was a bust. Absolutely I don't want these re-listed or even on the market again for that matter. I am taking All the necessary steps to move forward with this one. $95 is small play to where it is well worth my time to make sure these coins don't hit the market ever again. I filed claim with eBay and contacted a well known Numismatic crime detective (Doug Davis) on the matter. He is gonna enter the seller into his database. I somewhat feel that the seller was duped as well, as he was tough and scared I was trying to rip him off. His tone changed when he received another email (according to him) about another buyer stating his coins were fakes.

Im not out to bury a guy if he is making an honest mistake. The seller demands for me to pay for return shipping and I'm not having that. I spoke with a human over at eBay and they assured me that the sellers 14-day return policy with "buyer pays rerun shipping" will be null and void. If I am to return the coins, I would only do so using USPS Registered with tracking (about $12 or $15). I didn't even take the 40%ers out from the tape-tomb. The seller emailed me earlier with the idea that he wants the coins back so he can take them to his local B&M and donate them for further educational purposes. I like that idea and would be willing to pay return shipping if I can verify what shop and call and ask if the coins could be sent directly to them, instead of the seller. My main concern at this point is to get these off the market and get my money back. I would rather they be destroyed than get my $95 back and have them still out there. Like I said though guys, I will be keeping you all updated on the situation and how it plays out.

This actually might be a little more fun than if the pick was a hit.... Well maybe not, but I love and respect Numismatics so much that "this guy sold the wrong coins to the wrong guy" and I will fight for what is right till the end without even worrying if I get one penny back

    ....more to come

Sorry to hear they weren't real, but don't get in the habit of using return policies as a fallback. The outcome will not always be in your favor, even if you are clearly not at fault. Take it from someone who has lost hundreds by relying on a seller's guarantee that he/she did not honor, and PayPal-eBay did not compensate for my loss.

So, just be confident the coins you're bidding on are authentic before pulling the trigger. ;)

Have you posted your story in a thread here? I haven't yet heard of any buyer losing out in this way, unless by waiting until too late to file a Buyer Protection claim. As someone who bargain-hunts pretty aggressively on eBay, and who therefore can expect to get not-as-expected lots from time to time, I'd like to know in detail about ways that the process can fail.

Full Refund issued for $95 hit my PayPal today. Through the proper communication with seller, no need to escalate the claim through eBay BP... I did however pay return shipping of $7.19 via UPS ground with $100 insurance. I could of hassled and fussed my way to have eBay send me the pre-paid return label, but in the end I felt the seller caught a bad beat more than I (he said he sold 5 lots like these and all were being returned) and I just wanted to be done with it. Win some, Lose some rings true again :smile

At least my Good Friend from Chicago sent me a couple 'Home Run Inn' pies overnight that I received the same day as my refund ;)
