I found this 1961 penny and I'm not sure if its a die crack cud or something else so I though I would ask the experts. Let me know what you think and as always thank you for your expertise.
Not a cud , nice die crack . Or something dug into the die to cause a raised section like that . Though I just joined CONECA to learn about stuff like this .
Possible die crack, common. Hard to see, area looks like it may be cut into Lincoln's head. a Cud MUST involve the rim and it is a piece of the die has broken away. therefore, there is a 'blob' area where no design is shown. if it involves the rim and the design is still there, (rim to rim crack) it may be a retained cud. But, hey, what do I know, I wear glasses
the line is raised but it looks like the dark area next to it is recessed. this would be due to a gouge or scrape in the coin and not in the die. this looks like post mint damage to me.
I cant really tell from the picture. Its either PMD (cut) or perhaps it could be a lamination that is peeling. Hard to tell with these pictures.
