rickmp Frequently flatulent.

For all of us that know nothing more than that is a Morgan Dollar, please explain why you complain.

The seller didn't set grade, but clarify on VAM with picture as proof. I think it's cool as I will able to know what I am buying. It has nothing to do with grade or claim that it's authorized slabbed.

Meh, I made him a best offer for melt minus his shipping costs. We'll see if he bites. ;)

He complains because he has made an assumption on something he clearly knows nothing about. Instead of starting a thread, maybe someone should have spent a few quality moments with our friend google.

He sent me a counteroffer for $35. Still to rich for my blood. I declined it...

I know the gentleman who runs Variety Slabbing Service. He is a VAM specialist. You will note that he doesn't grade the coin but he does identify the VAM variety and the slab includes an enlarged picture of the diagnostic feature for the variety. He is not just a self slabber, he does accept sumissions and VSS has been in operation since around 2005. my only complaint about his service is the slabs are not sonically sealed.

I complain simply because , he is attributing a coin that if in all intents and purposes is not graded by pcgs as a die var. , now if I am going to send it in to pcgs im going to make sure it gets the Varity label its suppose to, I feel to me if you cannot get it right the first time.. send it back to pcgs an correct it..

Dealers and sellers have been slabbing coins(with grades I might add) since the first cardboard holder came about. Plastic/cardboard flip. No difference, and there is nothing wrong with it. The TPGs don't have a legal monopoly on giving their opinion of a grade and/or variety(thankfully).

I really don't understand what you are talking about. It isn't even taboo to attribute a Morgan Dollar on eBay, much less with photographic proof. As for the self slabbing refer to Condor's post.

I don't find it strange, or a kind of attempt to deceive. Clearly, they are in CoinWorld slabs, and they are simply housed so the label with the VAM (or any variety), are clearly identified...I've seen Type B Washies in those slabs, same label...not a cert, just a label. I see it as a guy selling varieties, not someone trying to deceive. I see it as more of a service...sure, 'picking' is out of the question, but, I like seeing it protected than being in a 2 X 2 or a flip, for the chance it can grade.

I didn't realize PCGS attributed varieties - I thought they just verified them.

So... you're complaining (and accusing the seller of "packaging false coinage") only because he is selling a variety not attributed by PCGS? If I understand you correctly, then I can only assume that you must have literally thousands of other listings in your cross hairs. Maybe we all should turn up our noses or, better yet, just do away with everything that has not been blessed with the PCGS stamp of approval?

If you do not like it, don’t buy it. Problem solved.
