acanthite: Also, pick up Lawrence's books on Barber coins, old but worth the read. For varieties, try Flynn's books on Barber dimes and quarters. Barbers have some great varieties, give it a go.
No, I have only the Official ANA grading book. Thanks for the suggestion, also thanks Treashunt for the tips on books for Barbers.
acanthite: " - 'complete' my Barber Dimes set in F - AU" I wish you luck! I have been working on this set for years. Hardest dates, to date (besides the 1895 O, I only have a VG) are the 1896 O (F-15), 1989 O (VF), 1900 O (VF), 1902 S (VF), 1902 O (VF) 1903 S (F) and really tough teh 1909 S, F-12.
I did not tell him too buy it I just ask if he had it. My next posting would have been. Join the Heritage Auction Galleries @ HA.com and pick one up for free.:thumb:
I am already a member of Heritage and track prices on that site, but other than the generic grading page I didn't see any free resources. I'll check it out again. Thanks, Speedy, for the link to the on line grading guide.
I expect that 1895-O is going to be tough, but not as tough as the 1989 O! I picked up a slabbed 1901-S in F last month for a good price, I reckon if I'm patient I'll be able to pick up other harder dates.
When you first register you have a choice of a free gifts and if you did not go down to the bottom of the page you will not see it. If you are already a member then Speed's link is the next best thing.
Me: Upgrade a couple of coins in my 20th Century Type Set. I think my Type 1 and Type 2 Standing Liberty Quarters are next in the queue. Get my World Coins collection organized (it's still in the file box I had it in when I was a kid). Help Thalia finish the Canada Cents folder. Thalia: Find more Queen Elizabeth coins, finish the Lincoln Memorial Cents folder, and get a "Bullwinkle Quarter" (Canada's 2004 quarter that has the moose drawn by a child).
That must be new--I didn't get anything like that-- I do get $10 my first order of coins over $100 but so far I've won a few coins from Heritage and none of them have been over $100 Speedy
Yes it is new,my brother got one when he register last month. I got the same thing you did a $10 off my first bid over $100 but I have not found any thing I would spend $100 for or that I can afford over $100.:headbang:
to get the.... 2006 British Proof set, and the 2007 set. 12 ounces of silver. Some of the old british stuff. MOST WANTED LIST: Godless or Gothic Florin Standing Liberty Quarter 2005 Proof Gold Soverign
The 'Godless' Florin is similar in design to the Gothic Florin, but the inscription is plain & it is slightly smaller in size than the Gothic Florin. Aidan.
I'm not setting my goals very high this year, if I see a nice and affordable Indian cent I'll get it, otherwise: 1. Buy more silver! 2. Buy more silver!! 3. Buy more silver!!!
That's a great way to do it! It's good to know that people can take the time to learn what they are doing ahead of time..it saves them from a LOT of mistakes. But good luck this year either way! My goal is to get back into collecting..I took a break when school started up..but now I got the coin fever all over again! Wish the best to all..
