This was graded 1996-1997. 2004 or 2006 1st 1958 Philly DDO was found.. This i am no saying it that die but check out the photos . The date look at the 8. Motto too and the heaviness of all the details. «®»
Sorry, Jello. I don't think it is a doubled die. There are some heavy abrasion lines through the date that may make it look like a DDO, but it is not one.
I didn't think it was A ddo . I am about 70% sure its a over date. Lines do not add metal to the top curl of 8 or a triangle shape on N/E of 8. I know Fred Wienburge had one in a catalog a few years back. It's been sold or Freddie not showing it on his web site.
All variety specialist now believe the 1958 overdates to be nothing more than die gouges. 1958 probably suffered the most die gouges that I have ever seen for a given year.
I know I have seen a photo of a 1858 over date in Coin World around 2005 or 2006 when they found the 1st DDO. I checked all of my open rolls But never looked at this one til I was going thru my 2 of box. I plan to send the photos to two folks see what they think . I could just be copper that stayed on die til it broke. this no zoom-> This has 5x zoom
