    If I had to take a guess,I'd say it's one of those imitation gold Spanish Pirate coins that use the design of the 8 escudo dubloons of the 18th century,like this one I bought on the Outer Banks N.C.
    Of course there is always the million to one possibility that it's the real thing.First thing to do would be to see if it's gold or not.

    It looks like a Piece of 8 from somewhere in Spanish America.

    The partial legend on the coin looks like 'dread pirate' wordings.

    Two points, looking at the first picture, I would guess that this is a metal detecting coin, fresh from the ground.
    1) if so, probably reasl, but I did get two pieces recently at a beach, that were obvious fakes (hint: they were marked "copy");
    2) from the size in your hand, probably a 2 reals from 1712. Unless the coin is gold... it is hard to tell from the picture.

    turns out it was a fake, from the dread pirate board game. But it was based of the same coins you guys posted. Thanks for your help anyway
