Constans. AE3. 337-350 AD, Aquileia mint, 2.6g, 16mm OBV: DN CONSTA-NS PF AVG, Pearl diademed, draped, cuirassed bust right. REV: FEL TEMP-REPARATIO, Emperor in military dress standing on galley left, holding phoenix on globe and labarum, Victory sitting at the stern, steering the ship. Mintmark AQP. REF: RIC VIII Aquileia 109A This one is in rather bad shape but still identifiable. I have a better example that I may reshoot later. Wikipedia copy and paste history.
Once again, a very nice reverse. One can even see the oars in the water. Too bad the legends are partially off flan.
I like it!! ... I love "galley" coins (they are 'almost" as cool as animal coins!! ... hey, Noah's Ark coins would be the best of both worlds!!?) Great coins Gil-galad (it's a pleasure lookin at your new schtuff!!) :thumb:
I really like the reverse, not only the galley but the entire design, including the standing emperor and Victory manning the rudder. Nicely done!
