I've always been under the impression that no matter how small an edge tear is it will come back graded Apparent or Net. The same think on notes with small stains that may detract very slightly from eye appeal also did not warrant a Net or Apparent grade. So is there a threshold or fine line on "small tear" or "stain" permitted? A tear is a tear so why render a note over another by not giving it a net grade?

If the tear is not in the field of print, then in may not count on the over all grade. Go to the sight and see if they have the answers. Interesting, I know a tear is a tear.

I've gotten some notes with no Apparent/Net grade or even a comment when there were edge tears. I think it depends on the grader's choice.

I've also gotten some notes that had "edge tear" or "internal tear" comments when there were absolutely is none.

The edge tear may explain why no EPQ for the note.
