I really like the ANACS Clear view holder but.... READ THIS... Apparently, there is still a problem with the holder. I am a newbie at my coin endeavors. I am only currently collecting my coins from the mint and would like to get my coming 15 ASE sets graded but by whom? I was thinking of sending 5 sets to PCGS, 5 to NGC, 3 to ICG and 2 to ANACS. NOW all will go to NGC! I don't really don't feel comfortable with the situation that has occurred with Taylor and Standish going to ANACS and leaving after just over 1 year and returning to work with their previous grading services employers! While nothing may be afoul, as a new collector and anticipating using a grading service for my coins, I cannot in good consciousness do business with PCGS, ICG or ANACS under the current situation that has occurred. This situation seems suspect at best don't ask me exactly why but I just feel uneasy about it. I know that currently PCGS is the market king of "higher returns on their graded items", but this employee swapping between grading companies "may" lead to greater gains by NGC, "in my opinion". Just call me STUPID:headbang:, but I just don't feel comfortable with this employee swapping thing.
I don't know anything about the employee swapping, but I personally feel the most comfortable with NGC anyway...
Many of the top graders and numismatists (sp?) have been switching between companies for years.. this isn't anything new. Either way, in the cases of companies like PCGS and NGC, I don't think one person makes much of a difference. Otoh, ICG, PCI, SEGS, ANACS are a different story.
I have been doing some very minor self education regarding several of the grading companies and have posted here regarding my preferences due to the holders. I haven’t even looked into the inner circles of who the higher echelon employees are but have heard how renowned Taylor and Standish are in the hobby. I would endeavor to find out more regarding the swapping of high end employees of this caliber has been in the past and just how long they stayed with each company before returning to the same previous company they left. I see possible trade secrets being learned and taken back an forth and even someone causing possible internal turmoil. Just call me paranoid!
