1917 Standing Liberty Quarter type1 MS condition

I just did a comparison of another coin he has up for sale at a lower price. I did a detailed side by side comparison of very minor details and they are the same except the face on the cheaper one has the X blemished over hence the lower price.

This guy sells a lot of coins, and many of his photos have the same appearance as the OP's original pics. He has a few negs, the last one for selling a cleaned coin as MS. If you really want the coin, buy it; it might turn out OK... if not, you can always return it. I'm not sure of the pricing on this series, so I have no idea if the price is out of line or not. Buying any high grade raw coin (without having it in hand) is a gamble. Good luck!

I don't think it's counterfeit... just being washed out making the coin look funky... of course anyone would need an in hand inspection to be %100... but I'm about 90% sure it's good.

 

I don't know, read all the points in this thread - kinda adds up to counterfeit.

There are just some things that the fakers can't or don't do. I feel like a lot of people give them too much credit. The orange peel surfaces that these coins exhibit in 1916 and 1917 is something I have never seen replicated on the thousands of Chinese counterfeits I have examined.

Even from the washed out pictures you can clearly see that this coin does exhibit the surfaces one would expect from this date. So unless the counterfeiters have started taking into account the differences in surfaces from year to year in a series... I'll stick with a confident "genuine but impaired" assessment.

 

One other thing to keep in mind. Maybe the same hub but many dies would have been used for this issue. There would be minor differences from die to die.

Details of the throat, left foot, many of the folds, don't match. Overall detail is poor. I don't know enough about SLQs to call it with certainty one way or the other. If you're looking for a MS example, I personally would only buy this coin slabbed by a top-tier TPG or a trusted dealer, if you know one.
