With the price difference i wonder if it would be worth it to send in the 64+'s to get regraded and hope for a 65
I don't think NGC would regrade them higher...maybe PCGS but I don't belong to them. I have thought about sending them to PCGS, though.
Dont know just what i wrote on it i think i forgot to write 2 pence i guess the smaller 2 is rarer then the big 2. What i like about it is how some of these were done on a twist press.
NGCCoin has a little information for your 2Pence. http://www.ngccoin.com/NGCcoinexplorer/SubCategory.aspx?SubCatID=85&PopSubCat=Early%20American%20Coins%20&%20Tokens http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milled_coinage About as close as I've found for the twist press.
Winged Liberty; Your 1912 1C Matte Proof is incredibly beautiful! I agree that she has a chance into a 66 slab! Good luck.
yruelf78; Wow! What an amazing find! Do you think it has been in the ground since the 1600s? It is in incredible shape for being buried in the ground for that long. Gee you must have been totally stoked when you discovered it. Way to go!
Dont know because i think the dirt might of been moved around. Stoked is putting it lightly lol. I pulled it out wiped it twice and said holy crap a tree coin did not do anything else to it.
I really don't think that a Mass silver would look like this, even coming out of the ground. In my modest opinion: copy, base metal
I have already saw three coin dealers one of them i trust very much they all said it real one even offered me 1,000 on the spot lol. The silver wants to shine through. I want to clean it so bad. Dont know if you can see the scratch by the s. They told me that was a 1,500 scratch.
I just acquired this and I need the correct Overton number on it. I think it's 101. It's the large 8 over 7, not the small 8. I know this half has a lot going against it, but if it is a F15 or I could eek-out a VF20, I would be a happy camper. All thoughts and information welcomed.
History is made! I just had graded the first known PCGS PR68 BN Lincoln Cent (Proof) for the entire Lincoln Cent run from 1909 to 2013 (out of over 73,000 PCGS-graded Lincoln Proofs total). The population tables have not been updated yet to reflect this groundbreaking coin, but here are the census tables as of this morning. In the next few days, a "1" will pop up in the red bordered cell in the top table below. This coin came out of an unopened cello-pack Proof Set, that I bought for $24.99 on eBay (that price was for the entire proof set with 3 silver coins worth $14 or so just in melt value). So this Lincoln cost me about $10, a steal. It's interesting that this coin has smooth-as-silk,1961-like toning. Colorfully toned 1962's are a lot more rare than proofs from the monster 1961 year -- and rarely come this pretty.
Where did you get it from? Finally got my (2) slabbed eagles in the mail today. 1 was from a user here and the other was from the bay, got a nice deal on it, almost what raws are selling for. Also goes for the Proof (2001-P) Paid a tad over raw prices at a pawn shop.
Absolute monster coin and even more monster grade. I'm happy to have been able to see the historical coin in hand. Hope it will rub off one some of the Lincoln's I'm sending in.
Just a quick CORRECTION in my PR68 BN Lincoln post above. BRG5658 found that there was a 1988-S PCGS PR68 BN Zinc Lincoln ("Zincoln") graded previously. So my 1962 Lincoln is the 2nd known PCGS PR68 BN Lincoln for the entire series (1909-2013) ... but the 1st known in the 95% copper alloy era (1909-1982). Shown below is my updated colorfully-toned P-Mint Memorial Lincoln collection. All coins are PCGS graded (grades shown under the dates) and all photos are resized TrueViews.
