I was born in 1973, so I hold onto very nice examples of money from that year. I happened to find this very nice and quite shiny 1973 penny in circulation. It's not rare or anything, but to find a 40 year old penny in this kind of shape is unusual. The pictures don't give the coin justice.

I love finding cents in this shape. I often wonder their story. How they have remained in such good shape? Cool find.

Thanks! I went back and forth on even posting this because it's not a rare cent, but it has to be rare to be a circulated coin in that condition after all these years.

Not rare to find this good of shape pennies at all even if they are that old. Sorry to burst your bubble

Correct... there's a ton of 'em out there, cashed in after spending years in someone's piggy bank. I thought finding 1950's AU wheaties in circulation was uncommon until I came across a few and posted 'em here. I was told the same thing!

true true.... I've found 1960's in GEM MS by the dozens in a box, there only good as hole fillers.
