    TypicalCreepahx Hello There! ( ͡⚆ ͜ʖ ͡⚆)

Hi! New to cointalk here so just learned how to post a thread ._......... Onto the question! I found a 1999 nickel coin roll hunting and im not sure how to post pictures so i Need some help on that, but here is whats so special about the nickel. It is doubled. The doubling on Jefferson is clear to the naked eye, and there is a ring cutting through the date like it was punched twice. Under the word Unum (obverse) there is a P. That is all that's visible to the naked eye. Any help here? Sorry if this description is unclear. Once i figure out how to post pics i will.! Thank!

In the quick reply box I am typing in, push GO ADVANCED below. It will take you to a new screen. You can then scroll down the screen a little bit, and you will see a box that says manage attachments. Click that, then another small screen will appear, click the green ADD FILES, click that and go to wherever you want on your computer. Double click the file. It will appear in the box, click upload file below the box. File will upload. Then you will see a box that says insert online. Click this to put the picture inyour post.

Back side, it's blurry. But there is no obvious doubling ( to naked eye ) But you can notice the P underneath The word Unum

You may have something there, possibly a double-strike (the obverse appears to have been struck twice - not sure about the reverse due to blurry photo). Can you remove the coin from the 2X2 and try to get better photos?

I agree, a picture out of the holder would help.

Notice how both of them ( both sides) have the same cut through them!

Very interesting. Does not look like a doubled die. Could be a double strike.
    Keep up the hunt!

What's the next step to this? What should I do with the coin?

Get Mike Diamond's opinion on it (I am sure he will chime in on this thread soon, otherwise you can send him a private message). Once he gives you the ok, you can go from there.

Looks kind of like it was struck through a previously struck metal fragment? Neat. :thumb:

I really need an answer. No one is completely answering my questions so bump!
    1. What happened to this coin?
    2. Is this rare?
    3. What is the value and is it worth stabbing!

Mike Diamond did have a hole page on cent thru half dollars on coins like the 1999. It was in Coin world .
I can not recall what the term and explanation he wrote.

A very nice coin~~~not worth a bunch, imo, Ebay buyers would probably eat this up to about $10.00 minus your fees, 10%. I like the heck out of the 'poormans double die' listing you see all the time on that site...you best money maker~~~a nice coin either way~~~~

In my opinion this coin has not been double struck at the mint. This looks more like someones attempt at trying to make a error coin.
We need to remember that when a coin is double struck this affects both the obverse and reverse sides of the coin. The sunken in P on the
reverse side looks like a dropped letter but is most likely just from the coin being tinkered with since the obverse side is damaged.
