I still think one of the neatest recent mule's is the good ol' Olympic Wheelchair mule ... yup, I still check every single wheelchair quarter that I come across!!

Huh? ... I guess you dudes have no way of knowing whether that photo is two individual quarters, or if it's an actual Olympic Mule, eh? (that's kinda funny) ...

Curious? ... what is this mule's current going-price? (anybody out there have a new catalogue, or some recent info?)

    Thanks, gang

    5c Canada 1858 Small Date AU53 PCGS

So. I am inspired again! The 1858 Small Date is the most common of several nifty varieties known for the first-year Victoria silver half dime issue of 1858. The large provincial mintage was more than 1.4 million pieces. This is a nice high-grade circulated example. I love the little silver half dimes of Canada and Newfoundland! I guess we in the United States feel deprived because the "Crime of '73" eliminated silver half dimes (and trimes, and Seated dollars, and copper two cent pieces) forever!

    Enjoy!

    Best Regards, :hail:

    Thanks!

I picked the 1888 to start with because it's the key to the series and for once I want to knock the hard ones out of the way first instead of last like most people do. I really do like the look of it and I'll be trying to match the rest of the coins I buy with this one.

    5c Canada 1874 Large Date (Crosslet 4) XF40 PCGS

The 1874 half dimes appear in Crosslet 4 and Plain 4 styles. Both kinds together saw a production of 800,000 pieces, not small but less than many issues in the Victoria series which often ranged up to 3 million or so per year. The prices for the two do not show a huge variation and, in fact, crisscross in the various price guides. The Plain 4 seems more elusive in the higher Mint State grades (MS64-65). This XF40 PCGS piece prices at $145 in Haxby, $250 in CCN Trends, and Rick, $230 at the CoinsandCanada.com price guide. :smile

    Enjoy!

Thanks Alan! You'll like the Newfoundlands, they're pretty inexpensive; they had nicer grades but I was already over my budget:eek:
