  3. Depends on what you want to do with it. I would send it in to get it authenticated and encapsulated and then sell it. Nice find! TC

I am going to see another guy this week. He might be in the 2500 range even with the scratch by the s and not slabbed. Not bad for a 3 hour hunt. Lol. I think it more for his personal collection which is better no need for room to make money.

$2500 is too low an offer.

That will sell for more once authenticated in an auction.

An AU Details coin sold for $4,700.

Dealers understand that when they offer someone a couple thousand dollars the initial reaction is "wow" and average folk take the money. The dealer then turns it over for double profit.

Don't be hasty because $2500 sounds like alot of money. Worst case scenario it will still be worth $2500 a couple months from now after you get it slabbed and do some research.

Yes i saw that one to i figure he paid at least 15 percent to the auction house. So i think i will start out at 3500 and then let him talk me down to 3000. Then i will say yes only if he throws in a pinpointer with it. Lol. I will post if i sell and let people know in the mean type i will try to get better pictures.

Looks to be in pretty good condition. Maybe consider that new restoration service PCGS offers? On something like that, the price may be worth it. Then auction it off. If you don't collect, it would most certainly be more valuable to someone who does.

Already tried. The law frowns on stuff like that. Lol

I would get it graded and authenticated. The the graders properly attribute it and find others for sale or that have sold. Proper attribution could save you a fortune. Also just because a similar one sold for $4700 does not mean that yours is exactly that same coin from exactly that same die pair etc.

If I dont sell to this guy i am meeting this week i am going to get it graded. 99 percent of people on here say get it graded. The people have spoken. Lol

  19. Why be greedy and want to make a profit from something you had no control of finding.
I would think you would get a better reward for your not so hard work if you donated it to the musem in the town from where it was found.
I would think the pride alone of seeing and knowing you found it would be worth more than the cash you would get and also it would be where you could see it antime you wanted.
The money wouldnt last long but the pride of knowing you gave back some history for everyone to see should last you a life time.

If bills where caught up i would love to donate it. But my kids come first and works slow right now. Keep the roof over the kids heads every little bit counts and its not being greedy trying to get its value, instead of some coin dealer making 1500 off of me
