Why did you start two identical threads?

That's not it. For one thing, the mintmark does not look like it's in the same position for die 1. Secondly, I see no evidence of doubling.

Not it at all. And not a doubled die. And not a GEM. If there is any doubling mimicked on this coin, it's from being reprocessed.

OK guys, remember that the rule allows trashing a coin, but be very careful when approaching to trashing a member ( include ID, avatar, opinions, etc.)

    Thanks to those editing!

It can't be 001. Mintmark is not in the right position. You need to learn that mintmark position is a key marker for doubled dies. If the MM is not in the same position, it CANNOT be that doubled die, end of story.

Hi there doubledieking18. Lots of folks have a tough time with understanding true doubled die coins and machine doubled coins. It just takes time to learn.

A die is doubled during the hubbing process. You'll end up with a working die that is doubled. Then, a mintmark is added to the working die as the last step before installation. Only that die is doubled, and the mintmark is in a set position...it doesn't move while striking coins. Every coin that is struck by that doubled die will have the mintmark in the same location. Therefore, if a coin has a mintmark in a different location, it CANNOT be that doubled die. Such is the case with your coin. The die for 1943S-1DO-001 has a mintmark in a set location. If your mintmark location does not match that of die 1, it CANNOT be die 1.

Are there clash marks above the date of the memorial bays? Don't see any doubling though.
