Picked this up for a good price (ok well good to me since I had to shop the evil bay to find one I liked)
Not being the greatest grader around, I will ask your opinions as to grade

Can't grade it properly from your pics. If you based your purchase off of those pics and those pics only, I'm sorry to say you have fallen victim to the "eBay tilt".

I can say with confidence that the coin is not in mint-state, and it appears to have rim damage.

I have a couple VF and VF+ lib.'s (83 NC, 04 and I believe an 11) and yours does have more detail so you are looking at at least XF to AU condition. That being said a 83 NC in those grades only net you $10-13 range and with the rim dings you are looking at a 40% deduction in value maybe more depending on the collector. It's like cleaned coins some people can deal with them at a proper discounted price and some don't care how discounted the coin is it's still cleaned and they wouldn't have it in their collection.

Well, the seller calls it AU/UNC... but that's his opinion. He really "juices" his photos, and if you read this seller's negs, many refer to that fact (as the pics hide scratches and hairlines). But for $14 it's OK, shipping is a little high at $2.95. However, if you receive it and see that it's been cleaned (or doesn't look like the pic), I wouldn't hesitate to send it back.

Just a side note, I have bought about 8-9 coins from this seller and have been very happy with what I received previously. In the end it will fit nicely in with the AU set I'm working on and that's what counts. I was just mad at myself because I missed noticing the little ding at about 5 o'clock on the obverse. Still a much nicer coin then any I have been able to find localy (most at about twice this price) I will however reserve final judgement until I have it in hand.

Absolutely... and I don't think the ding distracts that much from the overall appearance. And if you're happy with the coin, that's all that matters. Let us know how it looks when you receive it, and maybe post some photos of your AU set...

I think the coin is at least AU. Nice coin.

Arrived today, I doubt I can get a better pic then the ones already posted. The coin does have that nice golden toning as the pic above shows. Once again I am very happy even if the new nickel makes my AU W/cents look shabby beside it lol. (ok W/cents is "AU" but discolored icky brown so would probably grade "details" AU)

this seem to be an AU or maybe a tiny bit less, i have one in about the same condition and it too has that golden toning on it which i REALLY like, these are BEAUTIFUL coins and this one (no cents) is my favorite nickel :)
