I have recently been working on the exonumia side of my collection and was able to pick up this piece at a local antique shop (for $5!). It is from my hometown of Owosso, Michigan however it is misspelled Owasso, Michigan on the coin. I have been unable to find much on it in my research and was wondering if anyone else had any information on possible rarity or value.
That is a cool piece and it is even cooler that it came from your hometown. I think $5 was a super bargain. Here is one like it that sold for $75. Yours appears to be in much better condition. http://collector-ca.smugmug.com/Tok...s6/1475497446_55tDdcd#!i=1475497446&k=55tDdcd
I agree with Hobo, you got a great deal for $5. The chamber pot style is very desirable, and my experience is that you could sell such a nice example for somewhere in the $50 to $100 range about any day of the week. Nice piece of exonumia, and very cool that it is from your hometown!
Very nice encased zcs90. I would think that the incorrect spelling of your town would add value to the piece...at least it would for me. Bruce
It is certainly more interesting with it being misspelled. I wonder if the error affected how many were actually given out.
