What grade would you say this coin grades at? Is this artificially toned? What would you pay for it? Thanks
It is a BEAUTIFUL coin with that toning. But, I think it might be artificial, it looks too "rainbowy" too me...lol
That coin in particular was on ebay a few days ago. I sent emails to the seller saying it was unquestionably AT. He also had it listed as MS-67 which was a joke since it was arguably a slider piece. Notice the breast feathers. I told him I was going to email Ebay if he didn't change his auction since he was defrauding good people. I was sent numerous nasty emails from the seller saying he is a lawyer and would take me to court for harassment. Anyways I hope it didn't sell for too much.
It still is on EBAY that is why I wanted to talk to you guys first. I got screwed before, but from your help it is not going to happen again. Thanks It is going for more than 200.00 the last time I checked here is the link. http://cgi.ebay.com/1934-Texas-Comm...40QQihZ013QQcategoryZ3355QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Check out the seller's other items. Several have that unique toning. Check out the seller's completed items. Even more seem to have that toning. I think I even see the same coin listed as unsold because the reserve wasn't met.
Doesn't natural toning take decades to form? The reason I was asking, he also has a 2000 silver eagle with this "toning".
Seeker: At first I was awed by the piece, then I looked again. As you stated, it takes decades for the toning to form, then how could he ever have that Canadian silver ounce from 2006 toned "monster toning"? Nah, too much, too good. If it seems too good to be true, then it probably is, especially on Ebay.
No it does not. 100% completely natural toning can occur very quickly. It can also take a very, very long time. It all depends on the environmental conditions and storage methods. By very quickly I mean as little as a few weeks. By a very long time I mean decades, sometimes even centuries.
