You know you have a problem when you go into a grocery store and... Check the coinstar machine on the way in. Check the copy machine (found a nickel). Watch as someone uses the coinstar. Check the coinstar again on the way out to see if they cleared the reject bin (they did). Today was not the first time this has happened. Anyone else have the same "problem"?
.....when you seriously consider standing outside of the bank with a scale and asking people if they would sell me their pennies before they hit the machine. Ill even sort it, free of charge.
Seriously? I am not allowed to check the Coinstar machine since that is solely my 8 year old princess's exclusive domain whenever she is with me. She found 20c yesterday, but under the machine both times. And had to rub it in that she found it, not me. She is so competitive. Good grief, I am not even allowed to search coin rolls without having her at least supervise. Yesterday we opened a box of nickels and found a couple of Buffalos, she must have enough of the ones we found since she hasn't laid claim to them yet - but the silver! Be cautious the monsters you yourself create.
My family and I went grocery shopping the other day and as we were leaving there was a guy dumping in the coinstar. We put the groceries in the trunk and my wife was putting our son in his seat so I decided to take the cart back to the store instead of in the corral so I could see if the guy was done. He was but there wasn't anything in the reject bin. Got in the car and headed home. 20 minutes later I got a call from the grocery store saying that they had my wallet. It fell out of my coat pocket when I ran in to check the coinstar...Luckily nothing was missing but I won't be doing that again!
i always look at coinstar never found silver but found two foreign coins people will leave them on ledge useless to them, a great find for me.....found a dollar walking my dog i am saving it with my old bills not worth anything but to me its my lucky bill..
I do that all the time with all sorts of things (ATMS, counters, parking meters, etc.) Usually yields a dime or two. And yeah, I SERIOUSLY have a CoinStar obsession. I checked a CoinStar today, but I had to wait for the person to finish. She took so long, and I stood there so long, she must have thought I was a very creepy person. And after all that time, she checked the reject tray!
hey I do it ALL the time, about a year ago got a merc and a roosy 1944 and 1960 and about a half a dozen Mex coins all at once.
Had a "problem" again today and I paid off. At the grocery store this morning and noticed someone at the coinstar. Took an extra lap so they could finish before I checked out. 5 quarters 2 nickels 2 dimes
I did it again today. I was in the store and someone went to the coinstar. I did an extra lap. Nothing left though.
Jensenbay, you should hover over them while they're dumping them. They'll get uncomfortable and leave without checking the rejection tray. Don't do it before or you'll spook them and risk being ask to leave. -stay frosty
