This isn't exactly a new *acquisition*-- more like a new discovery. The other day I was going through a roll of Roosevelt dimes that I had bought back in 1990, and came across this 1949-S. I have no idea how it had slipped under the radar all these years.
I know for sure its not a washer coin, their real thick ! Any help on this error would be helpful, this could be a Ken Potter coin to look at ! I'll have to take some close-ups with the dino-scope, to look for markers for this error, I know the motto ( in god we trust ) is doubled, and lincoln head and neck looks weird too, Here's a new photo of the reverse, looks like a bottle cap stamping to me
Well ebay buy did not let me down. Hex they look better in hand than photo. Especially the East Africa Shilling.toning make the loin look to have strips Austrian Ein Kreuzer the rim looks like an army jeep tire. «®»
This 1816 Ein Kreuzer is EF-48-Au50 over all. but there a odd set of die cracks+Blocked letter/Die filled @ 4 o'clock. I looked everywhere to see if there notation about the Obverse marks. There No way it could be PMD. :thumb:If anyone knows PM me
Here are my latest acquisitions for my type set. I'm a new collector (again), and just posted in the Introductions forum last week: http://www.cointalk.com/t228332/ 1916 Mercury Dime MS65FB. Had my eye on some MS67FB's for around the same price, but I've always wanted a nice first year. Haven't received it yet, and the rub spot has me a little concerned. And an MS66 1938D Buffalo Nickel
Well I was hoping to get some better pictures, but the slab is so darned scuffed the camera focuses on those scuffs... I may have to find somebody who will let me piggyback a submission and have it reholdered. Anyways, here are my pics.
Well I've over spent my coin budget with this latest coin. I am going to avoid eBay, David Lawrence Rare Coins, Heritage, and everywhere else I window shop for a few months. Here is the coin, and my parting shot: (Sellers pics, coin has not arrived yet) I spent my first 12 years or so in York County, Maine. I think the coin is lovely.
