Nice type. River god/Tyche is common enough, (though yours is very well executed), but that obverse is very unique.

    Cool coin!

Tyre (rock) was a city-state in Phoenicia.

It is part of Canaan and was occupied by Canaanites, much like Judea.

It had close ties to Judea, and helped supply the great powers of the Ancient World with resources from other parts of the Ancient World.

It was mentioned multiple times in the Bible, helped to make many great and major ancient buildings, and, most importantly, was a major trading hub (some credit this as the ancestor of World Trades].

This very important city fell to Alexander the Great in 332 BC.

Tyre has, unlike most other cities, continued to survive.

Tyre is currently the fourth largest city in Lebanon, and is a major port.

Huh? .... I just checked-back through my recent coin purchases ... I'm pretty sure that this is the first AR-silver coin purchase in almost 2 months!!

Wow, I was really goin' through a good-n-grungy, AE-patina stage?

=> ahhhh ... yup, it feels good to buy a big ol' Silver Tet every now and then!! (they really are very nice "in-hand" coins, eh?)

I'm thinking that I could use this as my golf ball-marker?? ... seriously, how bloody cool would that be? (Ummm, it's not like this baby hasn't seen it's fair share of dirt, right?) ... if you're worried about it, then "don't be" ... I'll be very gentle with it

I have used LRB's and not felt bad about it. Not really nice ones of course.

My wonderful wife and I went out on our first round last weekend => amazingly, I finished-off the round with a par-putt-chance on the last 5 holes (ummm, converting only two of them, but that's not the point!!)

Ah Steve I think we come from the same mint. I also might be the only person to challenge you in the controlled blasting department, but I go more for a long sustained burn. There are few coins as gratifying as Big Tets.

I see your Tyche and raise you a Melkart!

Nice => wow, that's an awesome coin, A-Knob .... but although your coin may have a bit o' girth, I'm hoping that my coin's "pretty" takes the pot!!?

=> ummm but obviously, they are both "all-in" hands, my friend!! (great coin ... I always love seein' it!!)

Oh, and yes => I would bet on my kid to kick your kid's arse on Sports Day!!

    ;)

Of course you would. You don't have any kids beside yourself (and maybe the dogs. On second thought, the dogs are probably more mature).

Great coin Anoob. I've never seen this type of obverse before Jerry posted his coin. Now there's two. Hmmmm, I'm going to have to look into this.

Doubtful my friend, very doubtful, they call Noob Jr. " Golden Gloves" for a reason!

That kid does not mess around....

Dude, that's now twice you've insulted me in public .... "moderator, moderator, moderator ... where for art thou, moderator?"

    *whateva*

=> "If" my hot wife and I were able to have kids => then there would be a TV Super-hero series featuring that lil' bugger!!

Little Noob is lookin' good. But where are the Ancients he's holding?

Jerry, I'm sure you're more mature than at least one of your dogs. Right? And I'm also sure, your kid would do some arse kickin'. Keep on coinin' my friend.
