Well, I found another sweet example of a cast Æ Onkia ...

Man, I love the fact that these old cast coins are amongst the "First Bronze Coins" (that is very cool)

    SICILY, Selinos Cast Æ Onkia

Note => I've found three different spellings of "Selinos"

    Selinos
    Selinus
    Selinous

NOTE => the wild celery is shown on the reverse of my latest coin (sure, it is a fairly primitive example of celery ... but when I went searching for similar examples, I found very few that seemed nicer than my new lil' baby)

Interesting coin, I bet there are a lot more history behind it.

Looking through these threads only gives me the urge to buy more stuff. :D

Hey gang, thanks for all of the great coin-compliments and/or coin-comments (I love getting feedback, whether it's good, or whether it's trash-talk)

    :hail:

Man, I think I must now have at least "20" coins from Sicily ... plus, I just received a great book from the CNG:

=> HANDBOOK OF COINS OF SICILY (INCLUDING LIPARA), by Oliver D. Hoover

sadly/amazingly, the more coins I buy and the more reserach I do, only ends-up proving to me that I know even less than I thought I knew!! ... yup, but I'm absolutely having a ball searching, researching and then collecting ancient coins (and these old cast coins from Sicily are quickly becoming a new passion!!)

Hey dawg, I'm no expert, but ummmm => isn't that's harassment? => man, where are the moderators when you "need" them, eh?

    ;)

    Just kidding, Chief

Oh ... and just in case you're wondering => I took the day-off from the good ol' Nickel Mine, today (I usually work a tiny bit harder than this!!)

education, n: that which discloses to the wise and disguises from the foolish their lack of understanding.

very true......man, i must be highly educated 'cause i'm usually clueless (but at least i know it...so i'm starting to wise up finally). ;)
