No. 63 Demetrius II Nicator "The Victor" (d.125 BC) King of Syria (Seleucid Empire) s.147 BC AR Shekel Phoenicia, Tyre mint. Brother of Antiochus VII Son of Demetrius I Soter
Very nice coin. I've been looking for a decent bronze of Demetrios III Eukaros minted in Damascus. It's an area and time period that holds much interest for me.
I assume that this is a big piece of good silver. If it's convenient, please let me know the approximate weight & dimension.
I am pleased that this well circulated coin that's been in my collection for a couple years has received such warm response. Currently I am being audited at work by various govm't agencies, and my play on computer time is non existent for the next day or so, but when I have a moment I will include the dimensions, a reference and some historical background on this biblical coin. Thanks for the comments guys. If Siberiaman (or another guy) wants to copy this over to his thread in the correct numerical position ya'll have my blessing. Thanks again guys!
