Not surprisingly, I really like these medals. I like the hand-done feel to the reliefs. Are they bronze?
I know nothing about Germany coins, but I've always liked their understated designs. I appreciate Belarus coins for the same reason.
Thanks, the amazing part is it's .420 Silver and only cost me $7. The photo does not do the coin justice, much nicer in hand.
Yes, both bronze, got the pair for $10 at the JCNS annual coin show in Lenexa, KS. Same dealer I got an 1797 GB 2 Pence from for $70 that later came back NGC58 and sold for 500+ on eBay. Sold these Egyptian medals on eBid or I would offer them to you.
I continue to be absolutely horrible at photographing coins. Edit: Coin is a 1903 Philippines One Centavo piece
Buying based on auction house images sometimes pays off... An addition to my small non-primary Charles III set - 1773 Mexico 8 Reales. This one is a non-inverted assayer / mintmark variety of 1773 that will fit nicely with the other 1772 and 1773 I already have in the set. One of my favorite foreign acquisitions, and possibly my best Mexican coin. I love the designs on Mexican coins.
Getting closer. 12 to go. Decided to add the ANO 2000 10 Peso to the set. Planning on going to the TNA show this weekend in Fort Worth. Hope to find a nice 1921 2 Pesos and maybe the Dansco 7220.
It is beautiful in the photo & you are lucky to have it in-hand. I always enjoy seeing your new coins!
The obverse shows Ludwig II, sometimes called the Mad King of Bavaria, who was the patron of the composer Richard Wagner (1813-1883). Ludwig also famously built Neuschwanstein Castle, the most opulent in Bavaria. Beautiful coin too! Thanks for sharing. Best Regards, :hail: George
