I found this the other day in a bucket of 5000 pennies that I bought from a friend. Has anyone seen this before? Thanks for your help.

Here are some ovr filled die errors that are interesting

The last two digits are missing off one and the other says "tates Of America"

First one looks like 1961 Post Mint damage.

Yep, the 1 on the first coin got hit by the crimping finger on a rolling machine.

Item 1 was probably from a coin counter,
The next was probably a greased die.

Frank, a coin counter as in "outside the mint?"

The US Mint does not use coin counters. They count the coins by weighing them.

Yup, as in outside the mint, the mint is slow enough, so they weigh everything.
(And hope that they get it right.)

post mint damage for the first one, I have a few like that when something got pressed into it, the second is the grease through die, lot of those around more frequently.

That should be completely accurate, asuming there is enough precision and accuracy of the scale. If not, there are defective coins in the lot. Everything that is important in your life is done by weighing. Ask for Pharmacist, Mother or Chemical Engineer.
