I'm trying to determine the remaining population of the GOLD REVERSE PROOF American Eagle in original government packaging but I need some help. Original mintage = 10,000 Certified by NGC = 2,349 Certified by PCGS = ? Certified by Other TPG's = ? I am not a member so I cannot access the PCGS population report. Can anyone help with the unknown quantities above?
Well since PCGS and NGC and ANACS are the only grading company that gives out POP reports its going to be more of a guess forthe Certified by other TPG's... Speedy
(PCGS) Population report #s for the $50,R,E. 89994 2006-W $50 Eagle-20th Anniv.Rev PR69= 837 PR70=829 Totel CERT BY PCGS TODATE 1,666 12/2/06
Total CERT BY PCGS TO DATE 1,666 Thank you. That leaves 5,985 less ANACS and any other TPG's left in OGP. If anyone can help with the ANACS number that would be appreciated.
Keep in mind that the original government packaging can be bought on ebay for about $10, and slabs can always be cracked open.
From the completed auctions I've seen they average about $70 - $75 for the packaging. Then you would be throwing away your grading fee as well as risking damaging your coin during crack-out.
Oops I was looking at packaging for silver sets. Car10, are you thinking that the coins in original packaging may be worth more than the set without packaging?
Car10 "Remainig population? I'm trying to determine the remaining population of the GOLD REVERSE PROOF American Eagle in original government packaging but I need some help. " If you are trying to determine the total population, it is probably 100%, since almost all are saved. Are you asking how many are or have been certified? Why? Everyone minted could be certified, and then 100% of the mintage would be available. Or are you asking for pop by grade?
Don't forget that some people will also crack open the slabs and resubmit, trying to get that PR70. Still, it's interesting that over 1/3 of them have been slabbed already.
