Hi everyone, I recently acquired this seated liberty half with a hole in it. What would opinions on the grade be? What would you pay for such a piece? I was debating to put it on my key chain, but i wasn't sure if it would be better to just leave it in the 2x2... Opinions? Comments would be appreciated..
Holed coins especially on the date are one of the worst things that can happen to a coin . You might get a net grade VF damaged holed . Your coin is worth what ever someone will pay , I'd venture around $20 .
Aside from the hole, I'd judge it's high VF to low XF. But the hole makes it pretty much bullion, any numismatic premium being nominal at this point. A good "pocket piece" with which to elicit groans at the coin shows or local shops.
Thanks for the comments everyone, I paid $15 for it, and I knew what i was getting into when i purchased it. My original intentions were to put it on my key chain even before i bought it. I just wanted others opinions as to whether the details were good enough to just leave in a 2x2. After its been on my key-chain for 20 years it sure won't look that good anymore, but will be a good conversation piece!
