I collect coins and know absolutely nothing about paper money. When I was a kid, back in the mid 1980's, my dad traded a guy a normal $100 bill for a 1966 red seal $100 bill. I was looking at it and noticed the serial number is pretty low. I don't know if this adds value or not. I am just wondering if it is worth more than $100. It is a 1966 Red Seal United States Note, Washington DC, serial # A00030311A. It's not in horrible condition or anything, just not in uncirculated either. Thanks folks!
there was 768,000 of those notes printed. from the serial you posted it wouldn't be considered a low serial. it is definitely worth more that $100. how much really depends on the condition. a picture or scan would be the best to determine value
Thanks. The condition isn't great. I was a baseball card collector back then. It's been folded in half in a top loader since the mid 80's and it has creases like it was folded over twice at some point. If you want a scan, I'll take it out and scan it. I just don't think it is in good enough condition to help it out a lot.
Assuming it's a 1966 and not 1966A, it could be worth between $125 to $190 based on your description. Some photos of the note will help us narrow down the value a little bit more.
It's pretty rough. Im much more a coin person but from my limited knowledge of paper currency, I would say $125 or so would be reasonable.
Not terrible but not great. I would say 125 to 140 depending on how many interested buyers there are. I would advise against selling it on eBay though. That's because the final value fees are assessed on the face value too. There's not a lot of room for profit on lower grade high denominations.
I'm not gonna sell it, it's just been bugging me to know the value. Thanks funkee and all who replied. I have a 1963 red seal $5, a 1935 E $1 Silver Certificate, and a 1934 C $10 Federal Reserve note from Atlanta I want to check on sometime soon also. Thanks again.
