three dcrack.jpg three dcrackfront.jpg I open three rolls from the mint and found 10-nickels with the same error on all of them in the same place three die cracks on front and die chip in liberty on obverse my scanner does not show how nice and shiney they are I was shocked that in three rolls each had a coin with a error and more coins had the exact error some with two die chips in the same place and for the total of 24 coins in all

It is not so shocking when you realize that the same die pair struck those coins.

I can't recall if the coin press for nickels strikes one or two coins per strike. (Some coin presses strike four coins per strike but I think those are restricted to cents.) All the coins struck by a coin press with a single pair of dies will be alike (excluding errors). Half the coins struck by a coin press with two pairs of dies will be alike so if a die (or die pair) has an anomaly half the coins struck by a coin press will have that anomaly.

Regardless, after the coins have been struck the coins fall into a hopper and, after inspection, are released onto a conveyor where they are mixed in with coins struck by other coin presses. They coins are counted and bagged and later rolled by a contractor.

So if you find an anomaly like the ones on your coins you should be able to find a few more examples from Mint rolls.
