Hi, I don't know if this has been discussed before if it has please forgive me. I was watching a show today about finding the bones of King Richard III. The show was REALLY interesting. Anyway, I went on the internet to see if I could find out anymore info they may have discovered. One thing lead to another, as it usually does on the web, and I wound up at the British Museum home page. There is some nice photos and a little info about coins there. This is a link to one of the pages: http://www.britishmuseum.org/explore/highlights/highlight_image.aspx?image=k98717.jpg&retpage=22635 I though it might be interesting for the Ancient, Medieval, and who ever else might want to check it out
My favorite part of the BM web site is the catalog of Roman Republican coins with photos of thousands of examples along with details on the coin. It could be easier to use but is the only place I know to get so many photos of so many minor types of common coins and a good sampling of the really rare items most of us will never see unless we travel to London. http://www.britishmuseum.org/resear...catalogues/rrc/how_to_use_this_catalogue.aspx They only have four EID MAR denarii and the gold fake one that was given to them by the king in 1825 so they don't have the heart to eliminate it. http://www.britishmuseum.org/resear...+Museum&sortBy=catNumber&searchText=rrc+508/3
Nice links! I haven't even gotten that far yet LOL. Like I said I just stumbled on to the site. There is some really cool stuff there. I'm a history nut so I have been reading everything including the non coin related info. Thanks for the links!
