A few days ago I was watching a coin I was interested in acquiring on ebay. It had a BIN price or best offer. The seller had multiple copies available with several photos. Most of the coins looked OK, but some, especially one had obvious damage. I made an offer with the stipulation that I not be sent a damaged coin. My offer was declined. After the sale ended with all the coins being sold, I get a message from the seller that he would accept my offer and would send me undamaged coins if I purchase more than one. I would like to buy one, not 2, but now I am sure I would get a damaged coin. Would it not be better for the seller to say, OK, for X amount more, I will send you one of my better coins? What would you do?
I would say no also, but maybe the seller is also a gun dealer by trade, as I often see ads for one of multiple guns for a price with " $20 extra for hand selected" which also strikes me as not the best way to buy anything.
This ^ Why would you buy a coin if you could not see a picture of the exact coin that you will be buying for? I certainly am not taking the word of the seller.
Which was exactly what I requested. I wanted to see what I was buying. This was not a high dollar deal, but I am not a gambler.
This is getting weird. Would someone who is an expert in selling and buying on ebay please pm me? Do not want to discuss recent events in public and I want to ask some questions. Thanks
I buy junk silver all the time without seeing a picture of the coins I'll be receiving. Most of the time it's for melt value and the coins are advertised as being VG+, or undamaged, or something that indicates a general level of quality. The times I've bought damaged silver, it has always been for less than melt. I'm not an expert in buying and selling on FeeBay, but if he's making offers to deal outside FeeBay, and you don't have any experience with the seller, AND it's starting to get wierd, walk away... But feel free to PM me if you want.
