Under the heading of Ebay listings, check out this one: "Extremely Rare 1901-S Silver Barber Quarter KEY Date!! This is THE KEY DATE of the Barber Quarter Series!! Item number: 270061524925 " What is wrong with this listing? I'll give the answer after you have the chance to guess. No prizes, this isn't the contest thread, but just FYI. Good luck, Frank

The mint mark is too big & low and is centered too low in between the R & D which is not right - also the coin looks to have casting bubbles. Id say it is a Fake- Compare with any from Heritage- http://coins.heritageauctions.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=360&Lot_No=6506&src=pr#PHOTO
the missing link Here is a link to a page for the 1901 s quarter to show what they are supposed to look like.http://www.barbercoins.org/1901SBQ.html There are some noticable differences between an authentic coin and the e-bay coin.
Yep, on both genuine reverses the S mintmarkis above the imaginary arc line through the tops of the R & D. On the eBay coin the bottom of the S is well below that arc line.
ones One of the 1's is in the wrong place also, it should be centered above the top of the denticals.
Okay, nice, to everyone who answered that it was a dime set, hmmm... never mind. Well the answer is (start the drum roll) it is a FAKE!!!!! Thank you to all of our knowledgeable collectors out here. I sent them the following email: "Are you aware that this is not a genuine piece? " I thought that was kind of a nice way to put it. Their reply: Hello, "I am very sorry once the coin is out of the holder we can not do a refund as that is the only way we can make sure the coin we send out is the coin we get back. It should be able to be authenticated through the holder. Thanks" Huh? Nice dodge, wasn't it. And notifying Ebay is a waste, they send a canned response that they are not responsible for listings. Thank you for participating. Frank
Maybe I was lucky that one time. They did pull one for me once. I still try to report them when I see something that I think is wrong. Usually like you say - they do nothing.
Ruben: There were two different obverse dies used for the 1901S: 1) Had both 1's centered over a denticle. 1 is close to the bust 2) have both 1's centered between denticles. 1 is not close to the bust. Per David Lawrence's "The Complete Guide to Barber Quarters." (2nd edition) Frank
