That elusive 1912 D nickel...

A 20th century Liberty nickel is the last thing I need for my non-gold 20th cent. type set (1900-1964), and specifically, I'd like a 1912 D in VF-XF, but the two places I went to yesterday didn't have any, though the store I normally visit had an '12 S that was way outta my league. He said a lot of his inventory was packed up for a coin show in downtown Boston this weekend, so I have to try again next Thurs. BUT, since I was already there, I picked up my first large cent (I have a few coins already in the 19th cent. type set: '57 Flying Eagle cent, '83 Shield and No Cents nickels). I'll have to post pictures soon. It's an 1841 with a 'streaky flan' in VF or so. Cost me about $40, which is typically just what I spend per coin.

But I seriously want to finish this other type set. So close, and yet so far away.

Ebay has a 'vf' up for bid right now.
    1912-D LIBERTY NICKEL - VF
    Item number: 290056693502
Probably cleaned, but at least nearly graded correctly.
Better than the other fines and the VF that are currently up for bid.
    Good luck
    Frank

Me and Ebay have issues. I hear too many horror stories, and going to the coin store once a week is a chance to talk numismatics with somebody. If only they sold coins on half.com...

I would check with two online dealers Harlan Berk and VTcoins. VTCoins has a couple for sale and you can ask him to post pictures of the coins. Berk has a clean VF coin in the 1912-D. Just a thought.
