Thanks to coin talk I've delved into the craziness that is coin collecting once again. Managed to avoid the initial "buy everything" phase (thanks to other bidders on eBay), but managed to pick up a handful of coins on the forums here. Me too. I have been looking for what I call "mildly numismatic" coins for a while now, and I hope to sell them to keep me in tunafish sandwiches during my retirement.
Ha ha cool bro I'm all glad you're here and stuff like I think maybe you should just buy a whole big giant bag of wheat pennies and go through them and fill out an album and just spend the ones you don't like lol. Happy hunting, scyth-man.
This is not terrible advice. It depends on what your goals are. If you want to live on the wild side, check out the ancients section of this site. It's amazing how many quality, extremely old, supercool coins are available for pretty cheap ($20 or so).
That's the future of US coins, bro. Think about it- the Roman Empire was a huge country that lasted hundreds of years and is well remembered by history. I'm sure they're coins had much lower mintages than ours. And yet, they're cheap as **** now! Don't think it can't happen here.
