Ok Here's the deal I got a coffee this morning and got this 1963 penny in my change ...ok in 1963 I was 9 years old.....so where has this been for the last 50 years as it looks as if it was just poped from a roll.
It may have been just popped from a roll. I got change once and found a brilliant 1968 cent. I asked the cashier if she had anymore. I ended up purchasing another 47 of them.
I have found a lot more of the older new unc's now that the WWII generation is passing off. A lot of people don't think they were coin collectors. Because they never talked about it. But a lot are like my mother, she never met a coin that she let out of her hand! And she has the 21 or better pounds of coins to prove it. Mostly pennies, nic's dimes and quarters. Like a lot of people she has a large collection of state quarters in rolls and loose. I gave up telling her that they will never be worth much more than face value. Like a lot of her generation, can't seem to get rid of much. Like wise the kids just cash em in when they have to clean out the house after both parents pass. Had a friend that asked me if I wanted his fathers book collection. Went over and started to look at them. The first one I pulled from the shelf had a couple of grand in Franklin's between the pages. Never did say how much it total up to. But I think it was considerable, as almost every one had bills in between the pages. He decided that I didn't need the books
I just enjoy looking at the difference in strike depth and quality of the copper years! They sure don't strike em' like they used too!
Alabama were finding a lot of 1960-79 P and D. it may be folks just roll LMC set up to pay Bill? If I find a nice copper any date it put in a roll 4 sure.
