A wart is a wart even with makeup on.

That analogy does not apply here. If a coin has details and is altered to become gradable then the details have theoretically gone away. Unless some people here could detect them when a grading company could not. The coin will not go back to details and the scratches wont get worse. In your analogy, you are covering up a wart which hasn't been removed but only has an appearance of being removed. Sure your wart is still beneath the makeup but overtime it would continue to get worse and eventually show. A freckle would be a better analogy. If you cover up a freckle sure it is still a freckle but nobody will ever know the difference.

Sometimes a details coin can be changed into a problem free coin simply by resubmitting it.

Excellent example. Couldn't you break that puppy out and lovingly rub it in your fingers on a daily basis until you turn it into an F problem free?

See ! That is exactly what I was talking about, a perfect example.

It would not result in being many a grade lower because the coin is a problem coin that has NO GRADE now - none at all.

because it would be artificial and you would be hiding the fact that it was cleaned and damaged whichisent right
