So, I finally got the grades back on my submission from 16 April on the PCGS Secure Plus grading. I put my expected grades in red. Disappointed, and pleased at the same time. 1995 w $1 Eagle PF68DC PF69 http://images.pcgs.com/SecurePlus/27510799_max.jpg 1941 s 50c MS65 (s/s) AU55- http://images.pcgs.com/SecurePlus/27510803_max.jpg http://images.pcgs.com/CoinFacts/27510803_max.jpg 1979 p $1 MS65 (Wide Rim) MS63 http://images.pcgs.com/SecurePlus/27510798_max.jpg 1980 Marian Anderson MS65 MS63 http://images.pcgs.com/SecurePlus/27510800_max.jpg http://images.pcgs.com/CoinFacts/27510800_max.jpg 1885 cc $1 MS65 MS63+ (GSA) http://images.pcgs.com/SecurePlus/27510801_max.jpg 1974 d 50c (DDO) MS64 *I didn't actually think about the grade when submitting.* http://images.pcgs.com/SecurePlus/27510796_max.jpg 1884 cc $1 MS63 MS62 (GSA) http://images.pcgs.com/SecurePlus/27510802_max.jpg 1899 o $1 AU Details (Micro-o) XF40-XF45 Details http://images.pcgs.com/SecurePlus/27510797_max.jpg Now for my complete lack of grading expertise... I was hoping for a PF70 on the ASE. I expected a PF69, but now I see a big scratch and prints that I don't remember being there when subbed. I *really* have no idea of how to grade Walkers. The AU55- means I thought it was a AU54/55 slider. If the s/s is an MS65, I think it might behoove me to submit a few more of the Walkers that I have. All this time, I thought they were AU because the knee looks "worn" to me. I guess they're just weakly struck. The CCs were both heavily marked. I just figured the 85 had less in the fields. That's why I had assumed 64 or better. I guess 65 is better. The Kennedy... I was just happy it was a DDO, so I subbed it just to have it verified. It's the first DDO that I found that looked like a DDO and not shelving. The Postal Gold is ugly. I submitted it on the sole basis that it was the LEAST ugly one that I had. I'm disappointed and ecstatic at the same time with the 1899. Originally, I wasn't going to submit it, because I really thought it might get body bagged (cleaned), but then I thought "Meh... details grade can't be THAT bad." I would have preferred the XF40 to the AU Details. Edit: Hopefully this came out.
Are you saying PCGS graders did this? I think I remember Doug said graders do not wear gloves, and probably nobody else does as PCGS either, including the people taking the pictures.
It's possible. It's also possible that the prints were there but not visible. But, I wouldn't have submitted the Walker if it had a print on it, since I already thought it was only AU. I'm not going to say they did or didn't, since the gloves thing seems to be when they do public marketing videos.
